Fires aboard Pleasure Boats are both dangerous and costly. Every year, a considerable number of fires are reported to insurance companies. Some of them even find their ways to the newspapers. Most of these fires are caused by leakages from hoses and flanges around the engine, resulting in contact between fuel or gasses and hot surfaces, which again leads to fire onboard. The importance of passengers safety does not even need to be questioned.
Although the Y-23 detector is not very costly, it specially has been designed for installation in the engine room. It is designed for small compartments, to detect risks caused by leakages at the earliest possible state of detection. It is of crucial importance to have enough time to react on fire alarms. The Y-23 detector is easy to install, it is not affected by unintended human interference, and it does not require light to operate.
The Y-23 detector sample and analyze the air looking for hydrocarbon leaks. If it detects any increased level of hydrocarbon, in the form of gas or mist, the Y-23 sends an early warning signal to the bridge or steering console about the increasing danger.
DASPOS´s new Y-23 Detector provides early warnings from leakages around the engine. The detector triggers an alarm BEFORE visible, invisible and/or odorless gases or fuel vapors
ignite, turning the scene into a firepit. This makes the Y-23 detector a fire prevention system rather than a traditional fire detection system that must wait for actual smoke or flames to trigger the alarm.
